Task-Based Language Teaching and Writing Skill

The research is based on Communicative approach because  is an effective approach that encourage group work, co-operative learning and acquistion of language functions such as greeting people and expressing opinions. It is flexible approach which is based on learning needs, goals, expectations, and preferences. Nunan (1989) argued that in this kind of teaching the focus shifts from ‘the outcomes of instruction towards the ‘processes of learning. Besides, Kumaravadivelu (1993) argued that ‘methodology becomes the central tenet of task-based pedagogy.

Task-based language teaching is an approach in which learning revolves around the completion of meaningful tasks. In the TBL approach, the main focus is the authentic use of language for genuine communication.

The need to support learners in their learning process of English language and let teachers are involve in developing new language methodologies that allow increase English language in students to communicate with other people from different countries. Nevertheless, the language learning competence and performance are still focused on the traditional methodology.
Teaching and learning to write is not an easy task because there are many aspects which must considered, such as grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics of writing in order to produce a clear piece of writing. According to Skolik (200) writing is consider as a combination of process and product. Recently, researchers have considered to implement new writing strategies and approaches to help students improve their writing skill. Task-Based Language Teaching was chosen to promote the development of writing skill. Ellis (2003) TBLT gives teachers the opportunity to create different tasks using target language, authentic material,  for succesful language learning.
